A Fantastic Kyokushin Fighting Seminar
On a chilly Canadian winter day, about 30 karateka showed up to the Kyokushin Fighting Seminar at CKMA Mississauga Dojo, led by our special guest instructor, Senpai Sergei Fedorov. The students from Barrie, affectionately known as the great white north :), braved snowfall, -20°C temperatures, and snowy roads to make it down to Mississauga.
We had participants from CKMA Mississauga Dojo, CKMA Barrie Dojo, Geminos Dojo, and North York Kyokushin Dojo.
An Amazing Seminar Experience
We kicked off the seminar with a great warm-up to get everyone ready for the main event—learning fighting techniques and strategies from Senpai Sergei. We focused on proper fighting stance and steps, correct execution of strikes, maintaining balance while striking, and explosive techniques. Senpai Sergei took us through various techniques and combinations, covering both attack and defense strategies, and timing drills.
After a short break, we paired up to apply all the techniques against a partner. Some rounds of sparring helped us see how well we could use what we learned.
The seminar wrapped up with an awesome fitness circuit designed specifically for Kyokushin Karate fighting, focusing on improving explosivity when executing techniques.
Shared Passion and Expertise
Senpai Sergei and I share similar views, and our technical knowledge comes from the Eastern European Kyokushin School, which is known for being very effective and high-level. I invited Senpai Sergei because I believe students should be exposed to as much teaching as possible, seeing different ways to execute techniques with real-world applications and years of experience.
Senpai Sergei emphasized the importance of precision, balance, and explosive movement. He also stressed how crucial fitness and self-training are, explaining that just 15-20 minutes of exercise a day can make a huge difference in performance over time.
A Big Thank You
The feedback from participants was fantastic, and overall, it was a very successful event. I want to thank Senpai Sergei for sharing his knowledge and all participants for their great effort and attitude during the seminar.
This event was another great success, and I'm confident it helped our members grow and raised the level of our dojo.
A big thank you to all black belts for being role models and inspiring students to give their best and continue their karate journey.
Thanks to Senpai Mici, Senpai Dezso, Senpai Alexey, Senpai Logan, Senpai Maddison, Senpai Dany, Senpai Ueda, Senpai Kiu and Senpai Artour.
