2025 Senshi Gold Cup – Kyokushin Karate Championship
Our team participated in the 2025 Senshi Gold Cup - Kyokushin Karate Championship in Montreal, QC, on March 15th.
This incredible event was organized by KWU Senshi Montreal and brought together over 600 participants from 70+ dojos and 15 organizations, including teams from USA, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.
A special highlight of this year’s event was the presence of Shihan Glaube Feitosa, a legendary Kyokushin and K-1 kickboxing champion.
Having such an inspiring martial artist at the tournament made it even more special!
This time, we had a smaller and newer team of six competitors, with four of them at their first event. We have been attending this competition for 13 years, and every time, it’s an amazing experience.
Competition is about learning, gaining experience, and improving as a karateka—but also about having fun and enjoying our time together as a team.
Results:
🏆 Robert Fogarasi – 1st place Kata
🏆 Alexa Fogarasi – 1st place Kata
🥉 Katie Kahanovich – 3rd place Kata
🥈 Essad Karagoz – 2nd place Kumite
🏆 Alexandra Hutan – 1st place Kumite
Although Marius Dumitrescu didn’t step onto the podium, we believe he had an excellent performance and was very close to placing 3rd.
I could write a lot more about how well our team did, but that would turn into a long story and still wouldn’t do justice to their effort and how much fun this event was.
You have to be there, be a part of it, to truly understand and feel it.
A big thank you to everyone—competitors, parents, and supporters—for your dedication and commitment to our team. Now, it’s time to get back to the dojo, keep working on our karate, and most importantly, on ourselves.
Osu!
Shihan Steve and Senpai Mici.
